Village of Los Ranchos de Albuquerque
I do not recommend this shop whatsoever. Came in January originally (to the golf course location) because my car kept dying (with a relatively new battery put in) and we mentioned that we believed it was an issue with the alternator, because multiple people also told us this when we described the problem. Brown’s told us that they would run some tests to check out the issue, later calling us back and diagnosing it with a faulty battery. We felt relieved that the battery was the only issue so we gave them the go ahead to replace it, they also replaced the battery terminal cables. When we got the paperwork back after they finished the repairs, the “tests” that they ran stated that the “Alternator is working as designed” and Henry also mentioned that there were no issues with the alternator. We were charged $559.83 for the total repair (crazy amount). The car had been used very minimally after due to the fact that we were trying to sell it. After 2 months, on March 21st, we bring the car to another Brown’s location on 7702 4th street for the same issue of the car dying. We get quoted $1,300+ tax to replace a “completely dead alternator”, stated by the front desk worker, Eddie Brock. We find out that the “tests” that the first location ran for $187.60 after tax, showed nothing and were completely useless. The second location ran a similar test but they specifically looked at the electrical circuits and finally found the issue with the alternator, charged us $160.41 after tax. When we declined the offer to replace the part for $1,300+, Eddie’s tone instantly became aggressive and rude over the phone. In the end we came to pick up the car and only payed for the diagnostics test. I have never experienced such disrespectful and humiliating treatment, as well as false statements from an auto repair shop and I do NOT recommend this company to anyone in New Mexico.
